What is a doula?

A birth doula is a companion to moms and families through pregnancy, birth and early postpartum. I will be there to hold your hand, provide physical and emotional support, as well as resources and evidence based information. You can think of me as your birth sherpa- I can't climb the mountain for you but I can climb it with you, making sure you feel safe and supported every step of the way.

Translated from Greek, doula means "a woman who serves".

As your doula I serve you- mom and the immediate family unit- helping you to navigate this significant life event with confidence in your choices no matter how birth unfolds.

Why hire a doula?

Research shows that women who use a doula are...

More likely to have shorter labors

Less likely to have a Cesarean birth by up to 60%

More likely to rate their childbirth experience positively

Less likely to require Pitocin or pain relieving medication

Who & Where I Serve

I support at...

  • Vaginal births, VBACs, & Cesareans*

  • Medicated or Unmedicated Births

  • Spontaneous Labor & Inductions

With experience attending births in a variety of settings- home births, birth centers, & hospitals- I can help you navigate the ins and outs of wherever you choose. Where you are most comfortable is where I will be!

As an inclusive provider, I aim to honor who you are, incorporating the things that matter most to you in the birth space.  By cultivating a loving, safe and non-judgmental atmosphere for all of my clients, birth is free to unfold without fear.

Dawn to Dusk Pillars of Support

Whether this is your first or 5th, with birth comes a flood of emotions. I am there to listen always. I stay closely attuned to your evolving emotional needs so you feel supported from beginning to end.

Throughout pregnancy and birth, asking questions or voicing preferences can be a challenge for many. My job is to make sure you have all of the information you need to feel fully informed, confident in your choices, and able to use your voice when necessary.

I am trained to help you move according to your body's and your baby's needs to make labor as comfortable and efficient as possible. You can expect hands on support with positioning and comfort measures.

The amount of information out there for pregnant moms to consume can be completely overwhelming. I will help to break it all down, sifting through to what matters most to you. Through pregnancy, birth & beyond, consider me a resource for any questions big or small.

During your home visit, we will practice and identify a variety of strategies to help keep you focused and comfortable throughout birth so that when the time comes, we know what works best for you. This could include music, massage, guided imagery, and so much more.

Doulas do not replace partners, only help them be even better at supporting mom! My job is to provide partners with birth informed suggestions and tools and then they can be as hands on or off as mom wants. I'm also there to make sure partners get rest and nourishment too!

My Philosophy & Promise

I believe that birth is a natural, physiological process which can unfold safely and beautifully.

  •

I trust a mother's intuition and I will honor your choices and personal preferences surrounding birth.

I believe that the birth experience can be more than a physical event and that birth holds the potential to be deeply personal, emotional, and even spiritual.

I will be with you every step of the way as a calming presence, resource, and guide.
